Matīss received a bachelor's degree in business and economics from Stockholm University, also a master's degree in finance from Lund University.
He started working in the Monetary Policy Department of Latvijas Banka as an economist in 2022, with the sphere of responsibility of the external sector - analysis of foreign trade, balance of payments and external demand.
