Santa Bērziņa has studied Economics at the University of Latvia, and later she got a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Riga Technical University. She has completed the course "Microeconomics of Competiveness", organised jointly by the the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Harvard Business School.
Santa Bērziņa started her career at Latvijas Banka in 1997 as an economist of the Monetary Policy Department, focusing on inflation and competitiveness issues. In 2005, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis Division of the Monetary Policy Department, as well as represented Latvijas Banka on the Monetary Policy Committee of the European Central Bank. Since 2009, Santa Bērziņa is Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis Division.
