Mikus Āriņš has a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Latvia. He started his career Latvijas Banka in 2006 as an economist of the Monetary Policy Department.

His responsibilities include evaluating the impact of the real estate sector on the financial stability in the country and the financial vulnerability of households, as well as conducting research in the area of financial stability.
