Baiba Vitajevska-Baltvilka (Witajewska-Baltvilka) has been working at Latvijas Banka as a Sustainability Policy Expert since the spring of 2025.

Prior to joining Latvijas Banka, Baiba worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Structural Research in Warsaw and at the Global Climate Forum in Berlin, where she focused on the political dimensions of energy transitions and climate skepticism. She has also served as Head of Policy and Advocacy at the Latvian Fund for Nature and previously worked in the field of European Union policy evaluation.

Baiba holds a PhD in Political Science from the European University Institute in Florence, an MA in European Studies from the University of Sussex, and a BA in Political Science from the University of Latvia.

Baiba's recent publications include: Enabling sustainable transitions in coal and carbon-intensive regions: Interdisciplinary social science perspectives and Politicization of climate change and Central and Eastern European countries’ stance towards the European Green Deal.
