In 2021, Jānis Mauris obtained a master's degree at the University of Latvia, in the subfield of mathematical economics, and before that a bachelor's degree in analytical economics at the University of Latvia. In the field of economics, he completed the (IMF) courses in fiscal sustainability analysis, as well as the University of Illinois courses on the monetary policy of Central Banks.

Jānis started working at the Latvijas Banka in 2021, as an economist in the Monetary Policy Department, in the Macroeconomic Analysis Division. His work responsibilities include the analysis of economic sectors and fiscal sector indicators. Jānis' previous work experience is related to risk control and financial analysis.
