Head of Payment Systems Policy Division

Deniss started to work at Latvijas Banka in 2011 as a payment and financial market analyst with the focus on payments policy, development and innovation. Since 2015, Deniss is the Head of Payment Systems Policy Division with the responsibility for oversight of payment systems and payment instruments in Latvia. That also includes the monitoring of the tendencies in FinTech and analysing the impact of the new financial technologies on the payments industry. In collaboration with the payment markets regulator Deniss helps market participants to better understand the challenges and opportunities of the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2). Deniss also participates in Latvijas Banka's project aiming to introduce the instant payments infrastructure in Latvia. Deniss participates in Latvijas Banka's Instant payments project and also in collaboration with the payment markets regulator Deniss helps market participants to better understand the challenges and opportunities of the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2). Deniss is an expert in the area of virtual currencies, at the same time he facilitates discussion about the high potential of blockchain technology and educates society about main functional principles of the technology.
