Igors Kasjanovs holds a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Economics and Management.

Igors Kasjanovs started to work at the Bank of Latvia in 2010. From 2007 to 2010, he was Deputy Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis Division of the Economic Analysis Department at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia; later he was promoted to the positions of Deputy Head of the Department and Head of the Division.

Currently Igors Kasjanovs is responsible for analysing the real sector of the economy (focusing in particular on the sectoral aspect when conducting analysis of GDP). His former research activities were mainly related to the assessment of Latvia's growth potential and activities of free economic zones in the world and Latvia.
